Creative Quilting

  Level A

Come along and make a simple cushion and use those lovely stitches on your machine to decorate it;  learn how to put on piping and maybe embellish with tucks and if there is time make buttonholes with the help of your machine.  Wendy is extremely knowledgeable about sewing machines so don’t be worried if you are not – that’s why you come to classes!!

An open-format class with Heather who will be there to help you with your embroidery – maybe something you started with her and still need to complete or maybe start a new project.

Sat 19th May             10am-4pm  £32.00

A workshop to create an exciting and colourful background for embroidery with the use of bondaweb, felt, fabrics, paints and threads. The use of sewing machine (optional) and hand stitching can be used to embellish.

A pack of materials can be purchased on the day (£6.00 payable directly to the teacher). It will contain Bondaweb, felt, organza and a mount to frame the finished work.

Date: May 22nd (Tuesday) 10am till 4pm at the shop. £32.00 per student (minimum of 6 required for class to run - maximum number: 8)

    Level A

Make a lovely seaside themed miniature quilt with beach huts using quick and easy techniques for any level of quilter

Friday  8^th June, 10am-4pm  £32.00

 Level A

An ideal class for those who have made their first beginner quilt using squares.

This time we will practise your rotary cutting to make strips.  These can be sewn together to make simple rail fence blocks or coin blocks.Also a class for those who need to make a quilt quickly - eg a cot quilt or play mat

Wed 13^th June, 10am-4pm  £32.00

Level -A

This class will show you just how easy and how much fun you can have while learning the basic principles of machine quilting, from straight lines to wonderful free-motion designs. Instructions will also be given on how to turn the two panels you will work on during the class into beautiful 18’’ cushions.

Level: B and above

This traditional pattern has come of age - the template allows you to use your rotary cutter to cut the petals quickly and accurately. One flower is ideal to make a cushion - or segments make wonderful quilt patterns.Further options include - different petal sizes and a 3D effect.

The ruler required is £14.95, you can hire it for the day for £7.50 if you wish.

Open Patchwork dates with Val   10am-5pm

No fixed agenda on these dates but we have a little more room (usually) than at the shop to work on slightly larger projects – layer up your quilt, do the quilting etc.   Bring your own project along to work on or start something new with Val – some ideas are listed below and others shown on the coloured sheet.   If you find something in a magazine that you would like to work on, please discuss with Val before the class .

Come along and sew for as long as you like – no tutors but lots of quilters with an opinion!! Light refreshments throughout and lunch on Saturday included in the fee.
