Class requirements for Christmas Garland with Julia

Create a garland to decorate your home at Christmas or make as a gift for someone special

Please bring along the following:

  • Basic sewing kit with scissors (for fabric and card), pins, needles, rotary cutter and mat if you have one

  • Card to create templates – recycled cereal box is fine

  • Selection of fabrics to include a variety of co-ordinating plain and patterned fabrics and marching threads

  • A bag of your scrap fabrics which can be useful with small projects

  • Plain cream cotton or calico fabric – fat quarter

  • A piece of ribbon or braid to use to hang your garland – this is not as essential as you may not finish all of your pieces for your garland in the workshop. This should be wider ribbon/braid ¾” to 1” wide

  • Small piece of wadding that can be used in some of the garland shapes

  • Polyester stuffing – this can be used to fill some of the garland shapes to give them a 3D effect

  • Buttons and beads can be used to embellish the shapes and designs in your garland

  • Thin tipped dark coloured fabric pen
