Dressmaking Summer School for teenagers with Maggie
Have fun and learn to sew a loose fitting dress on 21 July or 11 August and/or a loose top and shorts on 28 July or 18 August – all classes (10-4) at Creative Quilting, Bridge Street, East Molesey.

For the more fashionable teenager, all items can very easily be adapted to be shorter and/or more fitted.
You will learn to cut out the pattern, fit pattern to readjust any sizing requirements, make a button loop, add any facings and understitch for a neat finish.
Shorts: 0.60-1.10 metre of 115cm (45”) wide fabric depending on size
Top: 0.60-0.70 metre of 115 cm (45”) wide fabric depending on size
Dress: 1.10-1.80 metres of 115 cm (45”) wide fabric depending on size
NB: NO obvious diagonals/strips or fabric that needs to be matched
Notions: 1 x 127 mm (0.5”) button
1 metre 127mm (0.5”) wide elastic
1 metre fusible interfacing
Matching thread – good quality polyester or cotton
Scissors – dressmaking scissors preferred but not essential
Sewing machine: If you are bringing your own sewing machine please REMEMBER to include all
the accessories, all machine feet, spare bobbin, power lead, foot pedal and
instruction book (if you can find it!!)
Alternatively, you can hire a Janome DXL 603 from Creative – hire charge £4
per session BUT you will need to book the machine in advance direct with

Creative Quilting have some lovely fabrics and can also supply pins, scissors, thread, fusible interfacing and buttons.
