Class Reqs for Lesley's Hexagonal Log Cabin class

Hexagonal Log Cabin

 

During this class we will make a cushion using hexagonal log cabin.

The panel could be also made into a bag or maybe a double sided quilt on another occasion.

 

 

Please bring to the class :-

Fabrics

1 jelly roll of minimum 10 strips x 2 ½” wide (full width of fabric)

1 Nickel pack – 20   5” squares

-these should tone together – ideally the same fabric family – sold by Creative Quilting

Plus

½ metre of plain fabric to line the cushion backs

20” square of wadding – we will be stitching onto this

 

Thread

Basic thread for sewing

Thread which tones with fabrics for quilting – this will show

 

Equipment

Sewing machine in GOOD working order – with all leads, attachments and manual

Walking foot for your machine as we will be quilting

Free motion foot if you LIKE doing free motion

Rotary cutting mat, ruler and cutter

Square ruler 12” -  if you have one

2” Hexagon template if you have one – I can supply freezer paper templates for you

Sewing kit – scissors, pins etc

Notebook and pencil

 

 

This is an all day class, so you may like to bring a packed lunch – or there are many shops in the street. Drinks will be provided – tea or coffee

Please note our members of staff are no longer allowed to carry heavy bags or sewing machines upstairs to the classroom. We kindly ask you to take your own equipment upstairs, so please make sure that you only bring items that you can carry to our 1st floor room. If your sewing machine is too heavy for you to take upstairs, we strongly recommend hiring one of ours. The cost of this for the day is £4.00.We do thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation
