Paula Mini Mosaics requirements

 

Here are the requirements for making the

“MINI – MOSAIC FESTIVAL SAMPLER” 

15” x 15” Small Quilt or Cushion Cover à

Please note on fabric selection: You will only need one strip of each 1 1/2'' x 20'' of fabrics 2 through 9 to make this project. Choose solid color fabrics, tone-on-tone fabrics, or very tiny prints. Choose any 4 color combination you like. There should be a high degree of contrast between the fabrics, and all fabrics should be washed and ironed prior to using.

 

FABRICS NEEDED- êFat quarters, Fat Eights or scraps are recommended ! :

 

Fabric 1 - Fat ¼ metre light-toned background fabric  (cream in the sample)

FOUR  colours of dark value fabrics. For reference, sample (shown above) colours used are :

Fabric 2 -  Dark Red

Fabric 3 -  Dark Blue

Fabric 4 -  Dark Gold

Fabric 5 -  Dark Green

FOUR medium value fabrics in the same colours as dark fabrics - sample colours used are:

Fabric 6 -  Medium Red

Fabric 7 -  Medium Blue

Fabric 8 -  Medium Gold

Fabric 9 -  Medium Green

 

¼ yard of border fabric (multi-coloured print containing some of the colours used)*

Fat ¼  of a backing fabric*

¼ yard of fabric for binding *

¾ yard of fabric for pillow backing if making the project into a pillow cover *

 

OTHER ITEMS NEEDED:

wBOOK: Mini Mosaic Quilts

ŸSewing machine in good working order , and some neutral coloured sewing thread

Ÿ ¼” seam allowance foot for your sewing machine

wFreezer paper, rotary cut into 29 squares 1 1/2'' x 1 1/2''

wLightweight Fusible Interfacing cut 10'' x 10''

ŸFat ¼ of cotton flannel or very thin batting

ŸMini iron or small iron with a pointed tip

wIroning surface or a June Tailor "Cut n' Press" board, if you have one

ŸRotary cutting equipment, plus a June Tailor ™ “Shape Cut Ruler”, if you have one

ŸSmall sharp-pointed scissors

ŸPins

wTwo pieces of batting about 10” x 16” if making cushion cover *

w 16” x 16” cushion form if making cushion cover *

 

* NOTE - items marked above will probably NOT be needed for the class, but will be needed to complete the project.

PS: Please note our members of staff are no longer allowed to carry heavy bags or sewing machines upstairs to the classroom. We kindly ask you to take your own equipment upstairs, so please make sure that you only bring items that you can carry to our 1st floor room.If your sewing machine is too heavy for you to take upstairs, we strongly recommend hiring one of ours. The cost of this for the day is £4.00.We do thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
