Easy Log Cabin
In this class you will learn to make log cabin blocks using 2 ½” strips .
You can buy ready cut strips in rolls or cut your own.
The quilts on display are 35 “ square.
Please bring to the class:-
FABRICS
Strip/jelly roll - must have at least 25 strips
OR I used a collection of 9 fat quarters from which I cut my strips
Border – 30 cm
Binding – 40 cm
Wadding and backing – 1 metre square
THREAD
A neutral colour for the piecing – to tone with fabrics
Quilting thread can be chosen later
EQUIPMENT
Sewing machine in good working order – with all leads, attachments and manual
Rotary cutting mat, long ruler and sharp cutter
If you have a square ruler more than 10 ½” it would be useful.
Sewing kit – scissors, pins etc
Notebook and pen
Please think about the size of quilt you would like.
These small quilts can easily be made larger by adding simple strip blocks – my tourquoise and browns sample. Of course you will need extra fabric.
I also have a scrap version made from just cutting up a selection of fabrics.
Log cabin is very addictive and there are many options which you may like to do after the class. I will bring other samples.
Looking forward to seeing you on the day – drinks provided but don’t forget your lunch.
There are many food outlets in the street where you can treat yourself.
