For the Needleturn Applique class with Lucie, please bring
1 piece of fabric at least the size of a fat quarter for background (20x22” or 50x55cm). You can add more flowers if you want to use a larger background.
1 fat quarter for petals in a contrasting fabric.
Scraps of green fabric for leaves. A fat eighth will be sufficient.
One strip of fabric 1.25 inch wide for stem. You can make this as long or as short as you like. You can cut your strip straight but if you cut the strip on the bias it will curve more easily.
Scrap of fabric for flower centre. A five inch square will be large enough - we are going to make a small Suffolk Puff for the centre, if you have a yoyo maker, bring it!
You can use silk thread if you have got some already, otherwise Bottom Line is a great equivalent and available in lots of colours from Creative Quilting.
Removable marking pens. You can use washable blue pens, or purple air vanishing pens but do make sure the marks are removable!
Template plastic and a permanent pen that will mark the plastic.
Needles - for this technique it is best to use an appliqué needle - long and thin.
Thimble - a personal choice if you like to wear one. As appliqué needles are quite thin, they can dig in.
