Splitting the Hexagon – Take English Paper Piecing further… with Valerie

Hexie Thirds - These are 2" hexagons made up from three fabrics. Valerie used a 2.5" Strip Roll from the shop. Three strips of fabric makes 10 hexagons so a roll will give you a total of 30 hexagons plus a spare strip of fabric. Valerie chose light, medium and dark for my sample but the possibilities are endless!

Hexies Halves - Use hexagons and half hexagons to make strips for a different effect. Valerie used 1"hexagons and halves, for a larger project you could use a larger size.

Both these projects are also good for using up your scraps - if you have any!

Open to all – especially patchwork virgins

These classes have no fixed agenda; you can come along and work on whatever project you like (play catch-up from another one or start something new). If you have never done patchwork before, this would be a great place to start (and check out the dates at Our Lady of Lourdes on Saturdays where we have more space); not only can we point you in the right direction (we have lots of beginners quilts on display), you also get to see lots of other ideas being worked on – inspiration for the next project! Some food for thought can be found on the picture page and listed in the Our Lady of Lourdes section – such as Log Cabin, or a quick quilt made with pre-cut 2 ½” strips or squares which are available to purchase in the shop.

Each date is booked separately. If you would like to work on a series (such as a sampler quilt – and we have two great programmes:  My First Quilt or the new Medallion Sampler quilt – both great for beginners) then book your chair first and we can discuss the project to work on later

Sewing machines are available to rent for £4.00 per class; (they are Janome DXL603).
