Wandering Star - Class Requirements
For this quilt you will require 3 fabrics. Two of the fabrics should be of a similar 'value'. That is to say a similar degree of lightness or darkness. These fabrics will form the stars. The third fabric is for the background which forms an interweaving line through the design. It should be a contrasting 'value'.
In the examples below the pink and the green are medium value and the navy is 'low value' or dark. The single block has low value red and grey for the star and a 'high value' or light coloured background.
For a lap quilt or throw - 48" x 60"
Fabric 1 and fabric 2 (for the star) 1.25m each
Fabric 3 (for the background) 1.75m
For a single bed quilt - 60" x 84"
Fabric 1 and fabric 2 (for the star) 1.75m each
Fabric 3 (for the background) 2.5m
These yardages do not include any borders. If you want borders you will need extra. For a 5" border for the lap quilt you would need 1.5m. For a 5" border for the single bed you would need 1.75m. This assumes that the long pieces are joined.
