Very cute little book full of very sweet little birds to make out of all sorts of fabrics. I have fallen in love with Pikku the Penguin on page 64.

June 10

The Gentle Art of Quilt Making

A very nice book with simple quilts and clear instructions. The quilts have got a vintage feel and yet the book has got a modern twist, very Country Living  magazine.

(and I adore the cover!)

June 10

City Quilts

The subtitle reads: 12 dramatic projects inspired by urban views - this is a perfect summary of the book content.

If you are into pretty flowers, curves and everything pink, then walk away right now, this book won't be for you. If, however, you like lines, buildings and playing with colours and values, then this is the book for you.

June 10

The Essential Sampler Quilt Book

40 techniques for machine and hand patchwork.

Good reference book with the most popular blocks. If you already have books by Lynne Edwards, do check the content of this one as some material has been re-used (some is also entirely new)

Very much in the same category as the Dear Jane book

THE QUILTING BIBLE

Very good reference book with lots of photos to cover pretty much all the techniques under the sun.

The only minus point would be the uninspiring choice of fabrics from the samples. Bearing in mind the photos were probably taken in 1983 (but this is the 3rd update) when patchwork fabrics were either plain or brown, they have done pretty well!

May 2010
