At last!! I have been looking for such a book for so long!

As well as the quilt on the cover, you also get the instructions for a cushion, a wallhanging and a window vallance.

All the patterns are real size so no fiddling about with a photocopier!

We discovered Kathie in Houston where she had her own stand (sorry, booth!). Her quilts were amazing and just loved her book. The very nice about it is that, although she has designed a special ruler to go with it, she also shows you how to draw the template on plastic if you don't want to buy the extra ruler.

We love the quirky effects achieve by using wavy lines.

Excellent reference book for quilters. 62 quilting patterns with lots of pictures (front and back). Full of hints and tips. Very useful.

Start with a photo, end up with a quilt - that's pretty much the most accurate summary of this book I can come up with!

Lots of practical hints on drawing templates to recreate the photo and very interesting sections about fabric choice and how to create texture.

Quilts for the Modern Home

I really like her style. Very simple quilts using fabrics she clearly loves. The message I think is to not overcomplicate the quilt pattern and let the fabrics do the talking.

The instructions are based on using "pre-cuts" (charm packs, strip rolls,...) but also gives you yardage instructions.

You will have noticed: that one IS in Japanese. However the projects are very simple and the measurements are readable (and in centimetres), so competent quilters are usually fine.

If all else fails, you can always look at the stunning photos!

This is a DVD (non-region specific so it works in the UK) showing you how to make this astonishing quilt by Ricky Tims.

The requirements are printed on the back cover, the quilt featured is 54" square. The DVD runs for 1 hour.

It is very technical and very precise and it will open the door to very special quilts that will be your own creations!

I do love Gail's work and I was very lucky to take a workshop with her several years ago. I am therefore quite familiar with her technique and you would be amazed at the designs you can come up even if you can't draw to save your life (I am rubbish at it!!). Her specific technique is very liberating yet very accurate (no room for sloppiness here!). Her use of freezer paper for foundation piecing is inspired!

Layering and cutting multiple pieces are the hallmark of Bethany's process. She bring here new designs based on the same technique shown to us in Stack and Whack Quilts. She has her own unique style and shares with us how to achieve it.

Inspired by her life in Spain, the author shares with you 11 quilts (and 6 recipes!), all suitable for even beginners. The overall effect of the quilts do come from the choice of fabrics as you will notice when flicking through the pages.

Don't be put off by the cover!! It's not the most inspiring choice, I know!

Do open the book though and I can guarantee you that you will be inspired. These quilts are not for absolute beginner (but good on you if you want to tackle them anyway!) however the instructions are very clear and the drawings are extremely helpful. Just one hint from me: use a lot of spray starch!

Very cute little book full of very sweet little birds to make out of all sorts of fabrics. I have fallen in love with Pikku the Penguin on page 64.

Another book by the master of colours, Kaffe Fassett. He has revisited some older patterns with his latest fabrics - stunning as always.

A very nice book with simple quilts and clear instructions. The quilts have got a vintage feel and yet the book has got a modern twist, very Country Living  magazine.

Very good reference book with lots of photos to cover pretty much all the techniques under the sun.

The only minus point would be the uninspiring choice of fabrics from the samples. Bearing in mind the photos were probably taken in 1983 (but this is the 3rd update) when patchwork fabrics were either plain or brown, they have done pretty well!

Another timeless reference book (with drawing rather then photos). An old time favourite.
