Katie went on a "silly" class this weekend and made this lovely sock monster, we decided to call her Edwina...

If you visit the shop on Thursdays or Fridays, you will be familiar with Kjersti. She made this stunning quilt with a friend of hers for the baby of another friend. The drawings were done on fabric and the blocks put together.
It is absolutely stunning and the photo doesn't do it justice!
Margaret's Brownies are such a success at our classes, she has kindly agreed to reveal her secret and here is the recipe...
Chocolate Brownies
Ingredients:
· 8oz butter
· 8oz plain, good quality plain chocolate (not the 70% type as it’s too bitter)
· 12oz caster sugar
· 4 beaten eggs
· 8oz self raising flour
· tsp vanilla essence
· pinch of salt
· bag of choc chips or walnuts - optional
Tray bake tin - 13"x9" – greased and lined
Oven setting: 180°C/350°F or Gas mark 4
Method:
· Melt butter and chocolate in bowl over a pan of simmering water.
· When melted, remove from heat and add all the other ingredients.
· Tip - Don’t be tempted to whisk the eggs and sugar together before adding. I’ve done this twice and the Brownie doesn’t cook properly. You get a crunchy, almost meringue type crust and the rest stays gooey.
· Pour into the prepared tin and cook for 27-30 mins.
· It is crucial not to overcook the brownies as it’s their gooeyness that makes them so irresistible. Check the mixture after about 25-27 mins. Give the tin a shake. If the brownie mixture wobbles, it’s not ready. Give it another couple of minutes. Test with a skewer. It should come away a bit sticky. If it’s completely dry it’s overcooked.
Margaret spent hours embellishing the panel below. What a stunning job!!
